In this study, the researchers applied digital prosthodontic technologies to develop a fabrication method for an air-reed instrument guide that records and reproduces the positional relationship between the lips and the instrument of an expert shakuhachi performer.

In addition to supporting the education and training of wind instrument performers, this technology has potential applications in oral rehabilitation as well as in the broader medical and healthcare fields.
