Call for Applications for the Clinician Scientist (CS) Training Support Program for Academic Year 2026
1. CS (Clinician Scientist) Training Support Program
This is a program in which the university provides independent support to graduate students with particularly outstanding grades (evaluations) who intend to continue their research in academia after graduation so that they can devote themselves to their research.
Please be sure to have your research supervisor review your application for (1) through (4) prior to submission.
2. Eligible students
Graduate students with a medical license, dental license, nursing license, clinical laboratory technician license, dental hygienist license and dental technician license.
Any graduate school is acceptable. (Working graduate students are not eligible.)
First year of the Doctoral Program in the Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, or third year of the Graduate School of Health Sciences (5-year integrated program), or first year of the Doctoral Program in the Graduate School of Health Sciences.
3. Number of openings
Max 4 people.
4. Selection
Document review and interview based on application documents.
5. Support
・2,500,000yen per year.
・Exemption from tuition fees
(Supported only during the standard enrollment period)
※Support will continue if you are selected as a Science Tokyo SPRING (MD) Student.
※Support will continue if you are selected as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow (PD, DC).
6. Obligation
・Apply for a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship (PD, DC).
・To continue research in academia after graduation.
7. Classes of books presented

Please convert the file to PDF format and submit it with the file name as Student ID number_Name_CS_Form4_ResearchPlan.docx.

Please submit any accompanying materials, such as published papers, in PDF format using the file names listed below. For details, please refer to the application form.

9. Application Deadline
Friday, June 12, at noon (strictly enforced)
※Please make sure to “submit” the form by the deadline.
10. Suspension and Resumption of Financial Aid
・Financial aid will be suspended during the period of leave of absence.
・If a student whose financial aid has been suspended requests that it be resumed upon returning to school, the aid may be resumed.
11. Revocation of Eligibility for Support
Eligibility for support will be revoked if any of the following applies:
・Upon withdrawal or transfer resulting in removal from the student roster
・Upon receiving disciplinary action or suspension
・If false information is found in the application or submitted documents
・If required notifications or reports are neglected without just cause
・In any other case where the President deems the student unsuitable for the program
12. Repayment of Financial Aid
If a student’s eligibility is revoked for the reasons stated in the preceding paragraph, the institution may require the student to repay all or part of the financial aid already received.
13. Reports and Notifications
Students receiving support must submit a report on their research results (including progress) at the end of each academic year and upon completion of the support program , and will undergo an annual evaluation.
In addition, recipients of support must register the field in which they are conducting research and, if they change their field, must notify the Yushima Student Support Office without delay.
※A reporting session may be held.
