IFDC CU-Science Tokyo Special Collaborative Lecture Series –January 2026–
A hybrid “Special Collaborative Lecture Series”, featuring a collaboration between Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo) and Chulalongkorn University (CU), titled “Advancing dental-medical-engineering collaborative research and education”, took place successfully on January 28th 2026 at CU-Science Tokyo Research and Education Collaboration Center and on Zoom. Participants listened to two lectures by speakers from Science Tokyo and CU, who are specialists in the fields of gerodontology and prosthodontics.

Lecture 1:
“The cutting edge of digital complete dentures” by Professor Manabu Kanazawa.
Participants were able to learn about the cutting-edge digitalization of dental techniques related to compete dentures, which have multiple advantages from various perspectives. They were also able to think about the outlook of complete dentures in the future and also recognize the importance of conventional techniques for complete denture fabrication.
Further dental-medical-engineering collaborations are expected to take place.

Lecture 2:
"From evidence to education: Implementing oral frailty research in clinical and community practice” by Associate Professor Orapin Komin
Participants were able to learn about the current social situation of populations and gain basic knowledge regarding problems relating to older people such as oral frailty and oral hypofunction and an insight into the research and education related to geriatric dentistry in Thailand. They were also able to think about how the needs of an aging/aged society can be met and how healthy aging outcomes can be achieved.
Further international collaborations are expected to benefit our societies.
