International Faculty Development Course - IFDC Follow-up & Trial Experience Course -
A one-day International Faculty Development Course took place successfully on April 24th 2025.
Presenters and participants gathered at CU (Chulalongkorn University)-Science Tokyo Research and Education Collaboration Center. Presenters were able to share their presentations about clinical cases or research projects and receive personalized consultations and guidance on them from Science Tokyo faculty, Professor Manabu Kanazawa and Dr. Yuriko Komagamine. Audience participants were able to attend online, see their peers' presentations, and join the Q&A and discussions, which might be beneficial for their future careers.

Opening ceremony:
Prof. Junji Tagami, Emeritus Professor at Science Tokyo and Professor at CU kindly joined the opening ceremony as a surprise special guest.

Session 1:
"Collaborative care approaches for oral health in nursing homes" by Dr. Orapin Komin (Prosthodontics)
Participants were able to learn about the provision of holistic oral health care within nursing homes in Thailand and the development of structured of oral care programs for patients.

"Clinical case report and research projects in head and neck imaging" by Dr. Pornkawee Charoenlarp (Radiology)
Participants were able to update their knowledge around developments in CBCT imaging and the characterisation of bony lesions of the mandible, root canal morphology and ultrasound assessment of carotid intima-media thickness.

Session 3:
"Modulation of dental stem cells toward odonto-osteogenic differentiation for tissue engineering" by Dr. Worachat Namangkalakul (Anatomy)
Participants could deepen their knowledge around advances in regenerative endodontic and periodontic treatment in particular, those involving the use of decellularized extracellular matrix and magnesium chloride.

"Overcoming medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws: from risk prediction and prevention to advanced treatment in pre-clinical and clinical research perspectives" by Dr. Sirimanas Jiaranuchart (Oral Surgery)
Participants were able to learn about how laboratory and clinical research around pathophysiology and predictive signs in patients using antiresorptive drugs, is being undertaken to develop effective prevention and treatment strategies for medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws.
Session 4:
"Overcoming medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws: from risk prediction and prevention to advanced treatment in pre-clinical and clinical research perspectives" by Dr. Sirimanas Jiaranuchart (Oral Surgery)

"Dental restoration challenges in patients with genetic disorders" by Dr. Kittisak Sanon (Operative Dentistry)
Participants were able to appreciate the restorative treatment challenges patients with amelogenesis imperfecta and dentinogenesis imperfecta pose. They could learn how new adhesive restorative treatment involving CAD/CAM restorations together with a focus on patient-centred care could help manage these patients.

Participants were presented with the findings from research around tongue strength and the stability of posterior mandibular implants and were able to learn orofacial myofunctional therapies such as tongue and swallowing exercises.
