In April 1999, Tokyo Medical and Dental University was reorganized as a graduate-school-centered university through the integration of its two graduate schools based on a new concept of medicine and dentistry. The newly established graduate school began to accept students onto its master's courses, in addition to Ph.D.courses, in April 2001.
