Message from the Director

森山 啓司

At Tokyo Medical and Dental University, the "Oral Science Center," a university-wide collaborative research facility specializing in oral science research, was established on April 1, 2024.

In our super-aging society, it is urgent to accumulate scientific evidence related to overall health and oral health and to develop and implement next-generation dental treatments using new materials and devices. To respond to these societal needs, the center aims to promote oral science research to develop preventive healthcare focusing on the mouth as a gatekeeper of holistic health, develop devices for oral function evaluation, and develop and implement next-generation dental materials.

At the center, we have established the "Oral-Systemic Health Division," the " Department of Oral Devices and Materials " and the " Kaneko Memorial Joint Laboratory of Oral Sciences." Through translational research based on the collaboration of medicine, dentistry, and engineering, we aim to establish more effective, resource-efficient (SDGs), and safe dental treatment technologies. Our goal is to provide the public with innovative preventive healthcare as "oral medicine."

I kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation regarding the activities of our center.
