Education of professionals for Oral Health Care


Message from the Director, School of Oral Health Care Sciences

image1Tokyo Medical and Dental University School of Oral Health Care Sciences was established in 2004 and it is the newest school in our University. Its predecessor is School for Dental Hygienists attached to our University which was established in 1951 and closed in March, 2005. The new school started a four-degree course for development of oral health care sciences. In recent years the need of oral health care increases and prevention of oral disease and oral health promotion has become more important. The purpose of School of Oral Health Care Sciences is to educate professionals of oral health care who have a good knowledge of medicine, dentistry, health and welfare, can collaborate with other professionals like medical doctors, dentists, nurses etc., work as clinicians, teachers, researchers or staff of administration and also contribute to social benefit in view of international fields. In class, students learn a lot of subjects, not only oral health, but also medicine, dentistry, health and welfare, human sciences, other general education. After they have finished learning all subjects, the students of our school will get qualifications of candidacy for national examinations of a dental hygienist and a socialworker. We expect many students of our school will support people's happy life by accomplishing oral health care.

Our graduates will

  3. understand the role and the importance of oral health care sciences and welfare in the society.
  4. understand various condition of mind and body and learn knowledge and technology about oral health care sciences.
  5. acquire an inquiring mind and problem solution ability and have the will to lifetime learning.
  6. acquire the ability to act with the specialists of health, medical treatment and welfare.
  7. learn the ability for international contribution from the point of view of oral health care sciences.
