Message from the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry

The Faculty of Dentistry, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, which consists of School of Dentistry, School of Oral Health Care Sciences, and attached school for dental technicians, is an integrated institute for the dental education and research. Our university with the longest history of national dental university has contributed to the developments of dental education and dental science by throwing up a number of world leading graduates in the field of dentistry. Many of their achievements are now recognized as the world standards in the field of dental science and dental practice. Recently, our faculty was reorganized as the graduate school to establish the center of education, research and clinic in the dental field, aiming the further contribution to the society.

Message from the Director, Dental Hospital
Norimasa Kurosaki, DDS, PhD

The mission of Tokyo Medical and Dental University Dental Hospital is to provide the highest standard dental care for patient each one. The Dental Hospital treats 1,700 outpatients/day, and 19,000 hospitalized patients/year, which is the largest number of patients in the country. Demanding reliable, safe, and high quality dental service, the patient's needs are diversified increasingly. To respond to any kind of patient's requirement, the Dental Hospital has many special clinics. In addition, it is an important mission of our hospital to produce superior dental care professionals, who will be relied on for future health service. The undergraduate clinical program will begin one and half years before graduation, so that students can experience more clinical cases. A mandatory postgraduate clinical training of our Hospital performs in collaboration with local dental practice. For substantiality of clinical training of School of 0ral Health Care Sciences and education professionals of oral health care, clinical training office is established for exclusive use of a student. By effort of many teachers having superior clinical skills, our Hospital produces dental care professionals who receive high evaluation in many foreign countries not to mention Japan.
