For Referring Medical Institutions

We provide specialized care for difficult-to-treat and rare neurological disorders including neuroimmunological diseases, dementia, spinocerebellar degeneration, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, parkinsonian syndromes, and superficial siderosis. We also actively accept patients with undiagnosed or diagnostically challenging presentations for expert evaluation and treatment.

Our department also contributes to clinical care at the Center for Advanced Care for Intractable Neurological Diseases. Professor Sonoko Misawa serves as the center director, and the center brings together neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and other specialties to provide advanced care for intractable neurological diseases.

We offer a Dementia Prevention Clinic.

If you wish to make an appointment, please obtain a referral letter from your primary physician and have the reservation arranged through the Medical Liaison and Support Center.

Key Clinical Areas

SCA-related disorders: We provide specialized care for spinocerebellar ataxias and related neurodegenerative disorders, including diagnostic workup, genetic evaluation, and longitudinal follow-up.

Superficial siderosis: We accept patients with this rare disorder for integrated evaluation based on neuroimaging and clinical findings when diagnosis or management is challenging.

Neuroimmunological diseases: We manage autoimmune encephalitis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, multiple sclerosis, and related conditions from diagnostic assessment to treatment initiation and continuation.

Dementia: In addition to the Dementia Prevention Clinic, we provide differential diagnosis, disease subtype assessment, and treatment and care planning across disease stages.

Parkinsonian syndromes: We provide diagnostic evaluation, severity assessment, and treatment optimization for Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonian syndromes including progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal syndrome.

We also welcome referrals of rare diseases, atypical cases, and patients requiring expert judgment regarding treatment response or disease progression.
