RCBE held 2023 Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of Research Center for Biomedical Engineering (RCBE) was held in a fully face-to-face format on March 8, 2024, with Tokyo Medical and Dental University as the host institution. The number of participants on the day was 237, with 8 oral presentations and 180 poster presentations.

The day began with an opening address by Professor Hiroyuki Kagechika, Director of the Institute of Biomaterials and Bioengineering at Tokyo Medical and Dental University and representative of the RCBE, who reported on the activities of the current fiscal year and the plan for the next fiscal year. The poster session was divided into two parts, and the lecture hall of the medical department was filled with enthusiasm, making it a great success. Following the poster session, after taking commemorative photos at the Akio Suzuki Memorial Hall, 8 oral presentations were delivered. We also had special lectures from Professor Takamaro Kikkawa of Hiroshima University and Professor Takeshi Hatsuzawa of Tokyo Institute of Technology. An aggressive approach to healthcare from an engineering perspective was introduced, which not only stimulated researchers at the RCBE but also many grad students from Tokyo Medical and Dental University who participated as part of their graduate school classes.

After the closing remarks by Director Nakamura of Laboratory for Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology at Tokyo Institute of Technology, the venue was moved to the Faculty Lounge on the 26th floor of M&D Tower, where more than 70 people participated in networking. Thirteen poster awards were presented during the networking session, and the event ended on a high note.
