Frequently asked questions(FAQs)on Thesis defense

Q.When can I know result of the final thesis defense?
Defense result will be deliberated in committee to finalize on March for March graduates / September for September graduates. After that, students will be notified via email from Thesis and Dissertation Team.
Q.How can I receive my diploma if I cannot attend the graduation ceremony?
There are two options;
1.Receive it at Thesis and Dissertation Team, 1st floor of the building 1
2.Ask a substitute to receive it instead of you providing that you cannot visit Science Tokyo.
Please ask Thesis and Dissertation Team at first.
Remember that you must return your student ID cards in any cases.
Q.I would like to submit my paper for an academic journal and use the same paper for my final dissertation. Is it possible and is there any limitation on the number of pages for the dissertation?
You can submit your paper for an academic journal as your dissertation. Same paper is fine.
Q.I would like to know the exact deadline for the final dissertation and if there is a separate deadline for submission of the abstract and the final paper.

There are two deadline for submission of the abstract and the final paper separately.
Q.Can the research practicum be done in Japan or an international public health setting?
You can do it in Japan or in their own country, or other country based on your preference.
Q.What is the funding available to the students to conduct their Masters thesis? And what is the average amount required to conduct the Masters Thesis at Science Tokyo?
It is self-funded. The total amount would be at least 3 million if you wish to live in Japan, but depends on your living status.
