Both genetic and environmental factors are involved in the pathogenesis of human diseases. The genetic factors however still remain unknown in many diseases. In our Department, the genetic factors for diseases of unknown etiology are investigated at the molecular level by using techniques of molecular genetics, biochemistry and cell biology, to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the disease-susceptibility.
