歯学科長挨拶
 大谷啓一
 東京医科歯科大学歯学部歯学科は、豊かな人間性に溢れ、全人的な歯科医療を実践し、科学的探究心を持ち、自ら問題を発見し解決する能力を身に付けた国際性豊かな指導的歯科医師の育成を目指しています。
 その目的のため平成15年度より新カリキュラムを導入しスタートさせています。学生は2年間の教養部と歯学科の連携教育に続いて、PBL、チュートリアル教育を含む総合型講義・演習により基礎と臨床を有機的に結合した教育を2年半受け、さらに卒業までの1年半で治療を実際に行う包括臨床実習を体得して、全人的歯科医療を行う基盤を育成します。
 学生教育を担当する教職員は大学院医歯学総合研究科に所属しており、各人の研究、教育、臨床能力を駆使して指導を行っています。
 熱意溢れる教職員による指導とそれを受ける学生が一体となって行われる歯学科の教育プロセスは、国内を問わず国際的にも高い評価を受けることが期待できます。

Message from the Director, School of Dentistry
 Keiichi Ohya, DDS, PhD
The mission of Tokyo Medical and Dental University, School of Dentistry is to produce humane leading dentists who are innovative and have the international perspective to become professionals with broad vision and ethics. Our new curriculum has been started since 2003. In the first phase of two years, students learn the liberal arts and the basis of dentistry by the dental introductory course. In the second phase of two and half years, integral course combined with basic and clinical sciences including PBL and tutorial lessons are given for student to establish basic dental knowledge. During the final phase of one and half years, students learn clinical dentistry by undergraduate clinical training. Our staffs are professionals with high aptitude for research, education and clinical work. They make sincere efforts to teach students and upgrade the dental education. Our undergraduate education must be highly evaluated in Japan and the world.


歯学部歯学科における教育の基本的理念
 豊かな人間性を有し、使命感をもって全人的な歯科医療を実践し、国民の健康の維持・増進に寄与するとともに、国際的視野から歯科医学・歯科医 療の向上に貢献できる指導者を育成する。

一般教育目標
1. 幅広い教養を身につけ、歯科医師としての豊かな人間性を培う。
2. 基本的な科学原理と概念を理解し、生命科学の知識を修得する。
3. 科学的探究心をもち、自ら問題を発見し、解決する能力を身につける。
4. 全身の常態と病態を理解した上で、口腔・頭蓋・顎・顔面領域の疾患 の予防、診断、治療に関する知識および基本的技術を修得する。
5. 社会における歯科医学・医療の役割とその重要性を理解する。
General Educational Objectives
 Our graduates will
1. acquire a broad range of general knowledge and have wide experience to become a dentist with rich humanity.
2. understand scientific principles and concepts and acquire knowledge in bioscience.
3. have an inquiring mind to enable them to find out problems themselves and the solutions thereof.
4. acquire knowledge and basic skills necessary for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the oral and maxillofacial regions based on the understanding of normal and pathologic general conditions.
5. fully understand the importance of the role of dental medicine and dental care in society.
