About Our Project

Outline

We will accelerate the creation of innovative technologies in the fields of medical, environmental, and energy materials, where urgent social demands are piling up, and build a new academic research system through "Inverse Innovation", which is a new approach to research and development that realizes the solution of new problems caused by practical implementation of new technologies and the creation of new functions based on social demands.

Purpose

  1. Speedy creation and practical implementation of innovative “medical, environmental, and energy materials” through collaboration among six academic institutes.
  2. Consolidating social demands and new issues obtained through social practice through “Social Dejima”.
  3. Clarification of issues related to social demands at “Core Dejim”
  4. Solving problems through the circulation of people and knowledge through the "Multi Dejima" of six academic institutes that are connected to the world and leading the world.
  5. Fostering young researchers who can create innovative materials that will enrich the future.

Role of Tokyo Medical and Dental University

Tokyo Medical and Dental University is mainly responsible for the creation of innovative medical materials. Furthermore, we will contribute to the execution of this project by closely coordinating the respective achievements of the fields of metallic and inorganic functional materials (Tohoku University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Osaka University), electronic materials (Waseda University), and environmental and energy materials (Nagoya University), as well as of each university and group. In addition, we will also promote international joint research, industry-university collaboration, and the development of young human resources.
