Promoting Fundamental Projects of the Graduate School |
Chemical Biology Infrastructure Development Program |
Within this program we will improve and expand the facilities of the Chemical Biology Screening Center and the Chemical Biology Resource Bank and make them a solid platform for education and research in chemical biology at TMDU. We are also planning to establish a chemical compound library and build a database of structures and activities of the compounds compiled in the library, and will make the library and the related database accessible to outside researchers. These efforts will help researchers to identify promising compounds for drug discovery, with the goal of leading to better diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Imaging Research for New Drug Development for the Treatment of Refractory Infectious Diseases Infrastructure Development Program |
This program focuses on new drug development for hepatitis C, transmissible spongiform encephalopathy and new forms of pandemic influenza. Our objective is to develop lead compounds for new drugs. Our ultimate aim is to establish a new drug discovery process by developing new molecular imaging probes from those new drug candidate compounds, applying high speed chemical reaction of C-methyl, and introducing kinetic analysis techniques using PET imaging in cooperation with the Molecular Imaging Research Program, Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN Kobe). |
The Integrated Database Project |
Development of an Integrated Database in Biomedical Sciences
Our Graduate School has been gathering clinical and Omics data related to diseases for a significant amount of time. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) launched the Integrated Database Project in order to establish a national, central organization to manage a database of a wide range of biological data, from molecular information to disease information. It was announced that affiliated organizations would be appointed to promote the integration of the database in collaboration with the central organization, and, after an open application process, the TMDU Information Center of Medical Science was selected as this central organization. We are accordingly making all efforts to establish this integrated database in biomedical sciences.
