2008年度
第7回駿河台シンポジウムおよび国際スクールの報告
本シンポジウムは、難治疾患研究所および大学院生命情報科学教育部、
疾患生命科学研究部における最先端の疾患研究、生命科学研究の成果を内外に広く発信するとともに、
国際的な第一線級の研究者を招待し、多方面より討議することによって新たな研究の展開をはかる目的で毎年1回開催されている。
7回目を迎える今年度は、難治病態研究部門（部門長 木村 彰方教授）が責任者となって 「Cell death, autophagy, cell senescence and their roles in diseases」をテーマとして企画し、 アメリカ、イギリスより3名の研究者を招待し、平成20年11月18日に歯学部4階特別講堂において開催した。 参加者は、156名を数え、活発な議論が交わされた。
また、新たな試みとして国際スクールを併設した。中国、韓国、シンガポール、マレーシア、日本から32名の若手研究者と本学大学院生11名を受講生として、平成20年11月16日〜17日の2日間、医学部臨床講堂を中心に開催した。
テーマは、「Molecular Mechanism of Cell Fate:Death, Autophagy and Cellular Senescence」であり、細胞死、オートファジー、細胞老化を中心とする細胞生物学に関して、基礎から最先端の知見までを講義するとともに、バイオ産業との連携、アジア各国における生命科学研究の現状を対話する機会を設け、好評であった。
シンポジウム終了後には、国内外のシンポジスト5名の委員で構成する国際アドバイザリーパネルによって、国際スクール、 国際シンポジウムのあり方に関する意見交換が行なわれた。また、研究所の運営等に関する意見交換も行われた。
