Specific activities of this program

Activities for students and graduates

1. International internships
By providing opportunities to develop strategic thinking and self-expression abilities while in school through internships at international locations in the business sector, our graduate school systematically supports the formation of international career paths by our graduate students.

In this program, internships at enterprises, primarily in Japan, are conducted during the first half of the graduate course. These provide opportunities to understand issues facing real society and prepare participants to design their career paths in the future. In the second half of the graduate course, students plan their own internships at international enterprises and build foundations for networking and career design that they will later be able to employ in academia and the international business sector.

2. Symposia and lectures related to Global Linkage Program
Through international summer school and special lectures by invited members of management active in the international business sector, participants gain international business sense and communication abilities along with scientific knowledge. Moreover, graduate school courses are also linked to these programs. In graduate school courses, students learn fundamental skills for becoming active in the international business sector through classes that promote the development of abilities to discuss and present in English.

3. Career design consultations

These days, as senses of value diversify and the world experiences rapid change, many students appear to have problems related to the formation of their own careers. We actively support students with their future career designs in this program by providing a place where students have opportunities to reexamine themselves personally. Specifically, we are supporting students in conducting their own career formation by establishing a place for career support that provides a contact point for consulting with teaching staff with rich career experience and implementing coaching through this location, for example. We also provide students with a database for career support and, working in cooperation with the Student Welfare Section, we support a career fair that emphasizes career design.

4. Continuing education after graduation
At our graduate school, we conduct continuing education for our graduates and other members of society. In this program, we promote continuing graduate school education after graduation by sponsoring an international summer school and symposia that invite managers active in international business. Although our continuing education program is for our graduates and other members of society, by allowing current graduate students to take these classes as well, we are also actively seeking to make opportunities for interaction between enrolled students and graduates and other members of society. Moreover, by organizing an alumni association, we hope that our alumni will actively utilize our school’s network in Japan and abroad after graduation.

Efforts to support improvement of the graduate school

1. Graduate school web site
We are developing the web site for the graduate school (http://www.tmd.ac.jp/SBS) and this program and actively communicating information about our graduate school activities and graduate school education improvement activities to people in Japan and abroad.

2. Formation of linkages with the international business sector?
By receiving feedback about this program from the international business sector, we can examine what improvements international businesses needs in graduate school education and reflect them in our program. Moreover, through these types of activities, we will actively continue to form linkages between the graduate school and the international business sector.

3. Formation of links with international academia
We actively contact European, American and Asian universities, and support activities that deepen our interactions with them. Specifically, we undertake the planning and implementation of various activities, including sending delegations to approach universities and laboratories about internships and to promote interaction among students and teaching staff.
