For the Better Understanding of Mechanisms Underlying Generation and Regeneration of Organs

Professor Tetsuya Taga
The current research in the Department of Stem Cell Regulation is aimed at elucidating the mechanisms governing development, maintenance, and regeneration of the central nervous system and the hematopoietic system. We also aim to obtain a clue to tackle the problem of cancer recurrence. Particular attention is given to the molecular basis for fate determination of stem cells in view of cell-external cues (such as cytokines) and cell-intrinsic programs (including chromatin modification), taking cross-interactions of transcriptional regulatory signals into consideration.
