¿Ş£²£²¡İ£´£Â¡¡Result of psychophysical experiment in humans in which subjects are asked to rate stimuli along intensive continuum by assigning number to them. Stimulator rsed and experimental arrangements otherwise similar to experiment on monkey hand. Ponints are means for numbers called by eight healthy young adults after normalization of individual subjective scales. Relation obviously linear. Implication is that all those neural transformations that intervene between neural input and final verbal description of magnitude estimation are in sum linear. Second important implication is that human relation to external world as regards intensity of sensory stimuli is set by properties of periphe- ral receptors.(A From Mountcastle et al.)
