In April 2009, the Laboratory of Innovative Therapeutic Engineering (LITE) was newly started as a part of the Department of Medical System Engineering, Chiba University. In April 2019, LITE has moved to the Department of Biodesign, Institute of Biomaterial and Bioengineering, Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
The main objective of LITE is to contribute to the "design" of a new era of clinical bioengineering, especially in the field of computer-aided surgery (CAS), by using advanced information communications technology (ICT) and robotics technology for realizing new and advanced treatments.
LITE has hardware machining tools, computer and network system, and OR simulator for prototyping and development of the advanced CAS system.
To further student education, we are involving students in the design and development of the CAS system.
