Overview of URA Office Activities

In cooperation with TMDU’s research departments, affiliated research labs, centers, hospitals, RU-related organizations, Department of Public Relations and Department of General Affairs, the URA Office helps strengthen the research ability of this institution by promoting our goal of developing a world-leading research institution through globalization, innovation and creative enterprise.


Research Fund Acquisition Branch → Acquisition of External Funds

Collection, analysis and sharing of information regarding outside competitive funds, which includes Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, JST Competitive Funds, Grants-in-Aid provided by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Medical Research Development Organization (tentative name) and other competitive funds both public and industry-funded
Construction, operation and maintenance of institution-wide researcher database
Promotion of RU Organization/URA Office outreach activities in cooperation with the Public Relations Department
Support for the execution and management of research budgets
Planning and operation of activities that strengthen the international presence within RU activities.
Maintenance of URA Human Resource System, Etc.

Research Ability Reinforcement Branch → Improvement of Research Ability Establishment of Research Strategy

Detailed analysis of overall institution-wide research activities
Promotional support for joint R&D institutional projects as well as domestic and international initiatives.
Construction of research strategies, support of research project preparation, the holding of explanatory meetings, support for application preparation, the planning of research projects, and the support of research practices and preparation of scientific research in order to improve ability to acquire outside funding - including Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, JST Competitive Funds, Grants-in-Aid provided by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Medical Research Development Organization (tentative name) and other competitive funds both public and industry-funded
Effective use of incentives and mentoring support to improve the quality and quantity of research outcomes
Effective use of incentives and mentoring support to improve the quality and quantity of research outcomes
To strengthen the institution’s research capacity, effectively operate committee organizations such as the URA Management Committee, Tenure Tracking Management Committee and Tenure Tracking Evaluation and Advisory Committee.

Development of Advanced Medicine Branch → Supporting Clinical Trials and Research

Support for Clinical Trials and Research (Institute of Biomaterials and Bioengineering, Medical Research Institute, Center for Experimental Animals, Bioresource Research Center, Research Center for Inflammation and Regenerative Medicine, Center for Brain Integration Research, Support Center for Advanced Medical Research (tentative name), strengthening collaboration and problem-solving support within the Industry-Academia Collaboration Promotion Office, through an exchange of opinions
Creation of Innovative Drug Development, support and strengthening of R&D collaboration, including the development of new medical equipment (Institute of Biomaterials and Bioengineering, Medical Research Institute, Center for Experimental Animals, Bioresource Research Center, Research Center for Inflammation and Regenerative Medicine, Center for Brain Integration Research, Support Center for Advanced Medical Research (tentative name), strengthening of collaboration and problem-solving support for the Industry-Academia Collaboration Promotion Office through the exchange of opinions)
Strengthening of collaboration and problem solving support for the Clinical Research Center through informational exchanges
Provision of opportunities for discussions and conferences regarding seamless coordination and division of tasks between clinicians, educational doctors, translational researchers and basic researchers.
Promotion of institutional collaboration with an aim to acquire funding from the Japan Medical Research Development Organization (tentative name)
Provision of conferencing opportunities to develop a system that nurtures and utilizes the ‘spirit of challenge’
Provision of conferencing opportunities in order to build a mutually beneficial network between the base facility for special training (university) and collaborative training facilities (associated hospitals)

The URA Office will officially commence its activities in April of 2014.
