 演 題
Molecular mechanisms underlying the development of the placenta

 References:
The placenta is the first organ to form during embryogenesis and is critical for survival and growth of the embryo. The trophoblast lineage arises at the blastocyst stage first as a simple epithelium (the trophectoderm) that then goes on to differentiate into a variety of cell subtypes after implantation including trophoblast giant cells, spongiotrophoblast, glycogen trophoblast cells, or syncytiotrophoblast cells of the labyrinth. The Cross Laboratory has been studying the nature and regulation of the trophoblast cell lineage using Cre-loxP-mediated lineage tracing in vivo, cultured trophoblast stem cells as well as analysis of a variety of gene knockout mice.
