The Department of Critical Care Medicine has Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine. The ICU is one of the Central Clinical Facilities and is located on the 6th floor of ward B. We have 12 beds in the ICU. The ICU offers intensive care to critically ill patients.
The critically ill patients can be admitted to the ICU from every ward, operating room, outpatient office, and emergency room. Our ICU is a semi-closed ICU. Attending physicians and intensivists are treating the critically ill patients from morning till night. Every morning, attending physicians, intensivists, and nurses get together to the bed side, and discuss about the patients’ treatment and care. Our ICU is a certified ICU by the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine. Six intensivists and 32 nurses belong to the ICU.
In addition, the Department of Critical Care Medicine offers the finest education for medical students, innovative research laboratories and an accomplished faculty.
