Participate in Medtec, an exhibition on the manufacture and design of medical devices

We have participated in Medtec Japan, one of the largest exhibitions in Asia related to the manufacture and design of medical devices, as a project to promote the social implementation of our research results. Last year, Medtec Japan was canceled due to covid-19. This year, the scale of the exhibition was reduced, and a hybrid of the WEB seminar and the conventional exhibition was held. The webinar was held on March 10, 2021 and the exhibition was held on April 14-16, 2021 at the Tokyo Big Sight West Hall. The number of visitors to the exhibition was 8,807, down from 30,000 before the Corona disaster.

151 people was attended to the webinar, and 74% were business people and 18% were academia. This WEB seminar is good opportunity for researchers to make contacts with many medical device manufacturers comparing an academic conference. At the seminar, Professor Tadahiko Shinshi of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Lecturer Takahiro Arakawa of Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Assistant Professor Yoshiteru Amemiya of Hiroshima University gave us the lectures on "Development of magnetic levitation centrifugal blood pump for ECMO aiming at realization of high durability and biocompatibility", "Disease / Metabolism Sensing Technology by Biogas Measurement" and "Optical Biosensor Using Silicon Photonics Technology", respectively.

At the exhibition, Aoki Lab., Kawahito Lab. and Niwayama Lab. of Shizuoka University demonstrated on "Multifunctional MCA for various detectors", "Heart-rate variability measurement by facial images using CMOS image sensor" and "Blood dynamics measurement system using near-infrared light", respectively.

F2F interactions were obtained through the exhibition and demonstration of prototypes. An exhibition booth of the Open Innovation Organization, Tokyo Medical and Dental University was also set up next to our exhibition booth this time.

Practical results have been achieved in our center. We will continue to promote actions for social implementation.
