Seminar in Beijing held in October, 2010

NSFC A3 Foresight Program 2010 Seminar
-Epigenetic Signatures in Gastric Carcinogenesis-

Date October 17-20, 2010
Venue Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute

Summary

NSFC A3 Foresight Program 2010 Seminar was held on October 17-20, 2010 at Beijing Cancer Hospital, Beijing, China. This meeting highlighted epigenetic signatures in gastric carcinogenesis via molecular and epidemiological analysis. A total of 42 scientists (16 senior and 26 junior) from 3 nations attended this seminar, and all of the participants talked their current findings by oral presentation. Senior speakers were given 15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion, and juniors 7 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for discussion. There was an enthusiastic discussion in the meeting. It was noted that six young chairpersons (2 persons each from 3 nations) nominated in this meeting presided over their sessions of oral presentation for junior scientists. The enthusiasm of the junior scientists in the oral presentation and discussion in English may brighten the future of epigenetic/genetic/epidemiological analyses in gastric carcinogenesis. Finally, discussion on collaborative researches was held at the end of this meeting. According to the 4 research activities, participants were divided into 4 groups and collaborative researches among 3 nations were further discussed. After the discussion, collaborative research plans were summarized in all the participants. During this seminar, we were able to promote our collaborative researches much among 3 nations.
