Report on Nov.17 2017 (Day 4)

IFDC2017 Report (Day 4)

For the morning session of day four (November 17th), a lecture titled “The current stream of implant overdenture” was provided by Assistant Professor Manabu KANAZAWA (Department of Gerodontology and Oral Rehabilitation). His lecture provided tremendous information and professional knowledge about prognosis, surgical and prosthetic procedures, and maintenance of implant overdentures, including literature review and his findings from his clinical studies. As implant overdentures may be increasing in Asia in the near future, the participants showed great interest in the lecture.

The case study “Treatment planning for periodontics with advanced bone loss” was hosted by Assistant Professor Koji MIZUTANI (Department of Periodontology). Drs. Mizuki NAGATA and Kousei YANO (Department of Periodontology) shared several of their clinical cases with deep intrabony defects, trauma from occlusion and aesthetic disturbance, and presented the treatment plans and actual outcomes through this interactive session. Participants had the chance to engage in discussions with their peers and TMDU lecturers on treatment plans for advanced periodontitis.
