School of Oral Health Care Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, with a four-year course was established in 2004 for promotion of Oral Health Care. Its predecessor was School for Dental Hygienists attached to the Faculty of Dentistry, which was established in 1951. The purpose of this School has been to educate professionals of oral health care who have knowledge of medicine, dentistry, health and welfare and abilities to collaborate with other workforces such as medical doctors, dentists, nurses etc., and to work as clinicians, teachers, researchers or stuffs of administration.

Moreover in April 2011, this School has two courses, one is Oral Health Care Sciences whose students are eligible to take national examinations of dental hygienist and social worker (selected), and another is Oral Health Engineering whose predecessor is School for Dental Technologists that was established in 1952. The purpose of this course has been to educate professionals who support oral health functions and aesthetics with abilities both of advanced engineering and science & technology.
