PHILOSOPHY |
|
There are two divisions for advanced professionals, comprehensive
health nursing sciences and biomedical laboratory sciences, to establish and develop
individual research in order to respond to the many complex challenges facing
nursing and laboratory sciences in the 21st century.
In order to respond to these challenges and to assume international and multidisciplinary
leadership roles, it is the primary philosophy of this school to prepare advanced
professionals and leading international scholars through the development of an
advanced educational research system and the promotion of clinical-oriented research
activities in graduate school.
Based on the above philosophy, we prepare the following types of scholars: |

Researchers as international leaders |
|

Scholars who can provide worldwide leadership in comprehensive
health nursing fields such as community health/home care nursing, clinical advanced
nursing and care management, especially in areas with high national needs. |

Leading international and multidisciplinary scholars to develop
advanced clinical laboratory sciences. |

Advanced professionals leading clinical-oriented research |

Leaders with advanced professional knowledge and techniques, which can make comprehensive decisions and apply their knowledge in nursing practice and laboratory fields. |

Leaders with knowledge of international clinical fields, who
can provide complex nursing care, conduct research, develop unique clinical laboratory
analyses, accurate clinical laboratory methods and biomedical support systems,
and apply knowledge to international and multidisciplinary clinical practice as
advanced professionals.
As our basic philosophy, we aim for each student to be a メscholar as well as international
leaderモ and メa leading advanced professional in clinical-oriented research.モ Students
become advanced professionals who can take a leadership role in clinical fields
and at the same time, international leading scholars who can solve problems in
diverse clinical settings including communities. In other words, graduates must
be scholars with advanced clinical competencies, and growing research experiences,
which will enable them to make important clinical decisions and acquire strong
competency in leadership. We aim to prepare students with development of both
types of competencies. Clinical competency in nursing includes skills in such
professional areas as prevention of health and related living problems, recovery
of good health, rehabilitation, palliative care, advanced nursing techniques,
and establishment of care systems. Clinical competency in laboratory science includes
accurate clinical laboratory analysis in response advances in health care. By
repeating a developmental cycle from clarifying clinical problems, exploring research
for problem-solving, applying research outcome to practice, confirming its validity,
to clarifying new research questions, focus and methods, students can acquire
the foundation for international research leadership with clinical competency.

ORGANIZATION OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES |
|
The educational research divisions in the graduate school have been organized to respond to the present and future needs of society for developing nursing and laboratory sciences. There are three departments and ten educational research divisions in comprehensive health nursing sciences. There are two departments and ten educational research divisions in biomedical laboratory sciences. The educational research divisions are composed of advanced professional programs, and have been reorganized from bachelor programs to graduate programs. |

FEATURES AND PROGRAMS OF EACH DIVISION |

(1) |
Division of Comprehensive Health Nursing Sciences |
|
Health and related living problems are diverse and complicated. This program is designed to prepare professional nurses with organizational problem-solving skills to engage in a variety of advanced nursing practices. The goal of this advanced nursing practice is to achieve individual health, greater independence of living and quality of life for clients of all ages and families from a holistic view of disease prevention, health recovery, rehabilitation, and terminal care. Such nursing practice can include palliative care, crisis prevention by focused and continuous care, stable health and life support care, health education for individuals, family and groups, utilization of social resources, team care, care management, nursing management, recommendations for system reform, and presentation of data. Research methodologies for assessment, planning, effective and efficient implementation, evaluation, and theory development are presented within the focus of each educational research division. We prepare nursing leaders and educators to conduct original research in clinical-oriented and international and multidisciplinary fields. Scholars accumulate experience in the research process and presentation of its outcomes through participation in research projects, study abroad in collaboration with foreign universities, research presentations at domestic and international conferences, and publication of research articles in journals. |

Division of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences |
|
Medicine and health care techniques have become increasingly
advanced, influenced by the rapid progress of molecular biology in particular.
Laboratory science is no exception. This program prepares students to develop
accurate and highly functional clinical laboratory methodologies and biomedical
support systems, including home clinical laboratory system and rehabilitation
tools. The course of study is based on analysis of biomedical information from
molecular and cell levels to organ and individual levels, and exploration of etiology
and pathophysiological analysis. From a multidisciplinary view, we aim to help
students acquire advanced research skills, knowledge of clinical practice, clinical
laboratory tests, and specialized analytical competency as leaders and educators
in clinical-oriented and international and multidisciplinary research. |

Based on professional knowledge and techniques cultivated at the baccalaureate level, this course prepares leaders/managers/administrators/researchers/educators in ethical nursing practice by deepening their knowledge in each specialty, by acquiring scientific thinking, and by research activities. |

Objectives |

To understand nursing tasks and related systems in medical institutions, care facilities and health care centers, and to be prepared for comprehensive organizational problem solving as well as research activities in each specialty regardless of department. |

To study the assessment, planning and practice for high quality nursing care with deeper knowledge and advanced techniques in each specialty. |
3. |
To be prepared to educate nurses in a practice model and provide consultation for health care team members, for better coordination of care in each specialty. |

To obtain coordination skills to help establish and promote care systems, by taking a coordinator's role among multidisciplinary professionals for providing continuous care and comprehensive care in each specialty. |

To be able to discuss and summarize domestic issues, perspectives and strategies by participating in multidisciplinary and international literature review and discussion on international issues mainly in specialty nursing. |

This course is to prepare independent researchers in laboratory fields, and advanced professionals as international and multidisciplinary leaders, ethical researchers, educators, and managers with the advanced knowledge and techniques required for advanced professional practice. |

To identify a specific research theme in the laboratory field, and then design a research plan, implement it, present the research outcomes, and write articles for publication in international professional journals as independent researchers. |

To learn how to teach in specialty fields of universities and colleges. |
3. |
To learn how to collaborate with other researchers in related fields by understanding not only knowledge and techniques in the specialty, but also basic/clinical medicine, engineering, and molecular biology. |

To acquire the depth of knowledge and advanced techniques in specific fields required for advanced professionals with research competency. |
