<Home Care Nursing>
Patients for home care nursing include people who are ill, or have problems in daily life, and people@at high risk for poor health across the lifespan, from children to the elderly, and their families.
Understanding home care systems in Japan and abroad, students learn how to develop creative research and apply it in practice related to assessment, care planning, care provision methods, practice skills, team care management, care system development, utilization of social resources, evaluation of care outcomes and cost control.
This course of study prepares clinical-oriented international and multidisciplinary research leaders@who can conduct research projects by themselves and present their results at domestic or international academic conferences and in scientific journals.

Home Care Nursing

Lecture A

2 credits

Centering on care provision methods in home care, and related systems, skill development, social resources development, care planning and evaluation, care management, nurses leadership in team care, and management methods including cost control are designed to reflect the students individual practice and research interests.In clinical nurse specialistfs curriculum, home care nursing is included in community nursing, and has a close relationship with care in medical and welfare institutions so that it helps the students develop skills such as discharge planning and continuous care.

Seminar A

2 credits

In the first half of the course, students participate in an educational program tailored to their individual research interest. To conduct a home care nursing study, students learn research trends, concepts, theory, research planning, and concrete methods of developing a study. In the second half, students obtain advanced home care nursing practice skills as a clinical nurse specialist.Case seminar is added to aid in understanding theory and practice in implementing home care nursing.

Practice

6 credits

This practice is mainly designed to the prepare for the required examination for clinical nurse specialists in the future.Practice in community health nursing and home care nursing through community-wide activities, and home care-oriented practice are linked.Each administrative district is responsible for community residents in service provision and utilization of social resources.Therefore even though students take either practice, both involve collaboration. Practice includes advanced community nursing practice required for clinical nurse specialists in community health and home care, staff teaching, coordination, research, and management of ethical problems.

Research (Thesis)

8 credits

Students learn research methods in home care nursing, choose a research topic, review the literature, collect data by conducting a survey, experiment, or case analysis, and develop presentation skills in academic conferences or articles completing a thesis.

Lecture

4 credits

This is more advanced than Lecture A. Through obtaining domestic and international information on home care systems, this program prepares students in advanced assessment, care planning, care provision methods, care skills development, outcome evaluation, team care, care management, care systems, utilization of social resources, service meetings, operational management of staff, organization and cost control.Students take either one or a related subject, participate in a research project, conduct an international and multidisciplinary study, give a presentation at a domestic or international academic conference, and learn leadership skills as clinical-oriented international and multidisciplinary researchers who can conduct original research.

Research (Dissertation)

8 credits

Through conducting a specific research study, students develop independent skills for research and presentation at academic conferences as well as publication of research in domestic and international journals.
