Education in Critical and Invasive-Palliated Care Nursing

The coursework helps students develop and synthesize skills of nursing interventions for both patient and family of patients who have lived with the experience of advanced technological care and invasive medical treatments. Building on this knowledge, students conduct a research study related to specialized nursing interventions in critical, convalescent, self-management and/or terminal stages of nursing care.

Lecture A

2 credits This subject is designed to help students understand patients who undergo high technological care and/or invasive medical treatments and their families, and learn nursing interventions and theory for the critically ill, convalescent, self-management, and/or terminal stages . The students acquire specialized nursing practice skills and learn research methods for critical and invasive-palliated care nursing through lecture and discussion.

2 credits This subjects is designed to help students understand patients who undergo high technological care and/or invasive medical treatments and their families, and learn nursing interventions and theory for caring for the critically ill, convalescent, self-management, and/or terminal stages. Through interaction with faculty, other students and select nursing professionals, the students acquire nursing practice and research methods in this specialized area of nursing.

Lecture B

2 credits This subject focuses on understanding the trends and issues of nursing practice in and outside the country for the critically ill patients, those who undergo invasive medical treatments, and the families of these patients. Students acquire abilities to reflect on contemporary clinical nursing issues, in order to apply solutions to future clinical nursing settings. Learning activities include lecture and discussion, dealing with the health care system and nursing intervention.

2 credits This subject focuses on understanding national and international trends and issues of nursing practice for the critically ill, for patients who undergo invasive medical treatments, and for families of these patients. Students acquire abilities to reflect on contemporary clinical nursing issues, in order to apply solutions to future clinical nursing settings. The students participate in seminars, discussing topics of the health care system and nursing interventions.

6 credits With regard to specific health problems determined by each student's interests, this course helps students to acquire clinical competencies in assessment techniques for the physical, psychological and social challenges of patients and families. The students also will learn techniques for teaching patients and families about coping strategies, and skills of coordination and consultation.

Research (Thesis)
8 credits Students learn research methods in Critical and Invasive-palliated Care Nursing, select a research topic, review the literature, plan a research design, collect data, and acquire presentation skills in academic conferences or articles in this course.
