7th Surugadai International Symposium

Advanced Course of Biomedical Science

7th Surugadai International Symposium
"Cell death, autophagy, cellular senescence
and their roles in diseases"

Advanced Course of Biomedical Science
" Molecular Mechanism of Cell Fate: Death, Autophagy and Cellular senescence"

We are pleased to announce the seventh Surugadai International Symposium & Advanced Course of Biomedical Science, which will be held at Tokyo Medical and Dental University from Sunday November 16 to Tuesday November 18, 2008. The first two days (Nov 16 & 17) are gAdvanced Course of Biomedical Science,h aimed at young Asian students and investigators who are interested in cell biology, especially the cellular events related to cell death, autophagy and senescence. It is an instructive program that includes introductory lectures and technical seminars on cell biology by leading scientists. Additional lectures about the cooperation between industry and academia will be given by guest speakers. Participants will be able to learn both emerging technologies and classical techniques to study these cellular events. In addition, the course will serve as an excellent opportunity for the participants to experience close communication with the outstanding lecturers.

The course will provide an opportunity for the participants to present and discuss their own project. Each accepted participant will give a poster presentation to other participants and some of them will be selected for short oral presentation to a panel of experts in the field. Abstracts (not required, but highly recommend for application, see below) are welcome on all types of cellular events, not limited to those mentioned above. Young scientists will surely benefit from such interaction with top researchers.

Registration is required to participate in the gAdvanced Courseh:

Dead line: July 15 (30-40 participants are expected)

Registration Fee: 10,000 yen.

This course is in part supported with funds provided by the Medical Research Institute, School of Biomedical Science and Biomedical Science PhD Program, Tokyo Medical and Dental University.
