Support Program for Improving Graduate School Education,
Initiative for Attractive Education in Graduate Schools and International Education Programs in Biomedical Science
(fiscal year 2007-2008)
The "Initiative for Attractive Education in Graduate Schools" promulgated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) aims at the achievement of graduate school education that can call on talented people from abroad, including Europe, the United States, and advanced nations across the world. TMDU established this Graduate School curriculum in English for the benefit of students who are not speakers of Japanese.
TMDU International Industry Academy Cooporation Program
TMDU Global Linkage Program for Industry and Academe
The Global Linkage Program will provide students with internship opportunities with international businesses and at international research institutes with the purpose of giving them real-world experience, participate in leading global trends and become better able to envisage future needs. We also collaborate with international businesses as we have opened a school where our students and faculty can study business strategies and hone their communication skills. Thus our program aims to enhance the linkages between the graduate school and international business arena while supporting the ability of our students to contribute to the global community.
Peripheral educational program
Educational Program for Biomedical Omics Information Scientists
The main goal of this program is to nurture doctors and medical personnel who can integrate life sciences and information science into practical applications in medicine and contribute to the further development of biomedical Omics.
This educational program is also aimed at bioinformatians who have been active in their field and are planning to diversify their activities into medical science. A special course is offered for them to acquire basic and practical knowledge in medicine and to learn methods of information management in Omics. We believe that this program can produce qualified personnel who can open up new frontiers in biomedical Omics.
Interdisciplinary Education Program for Biomedical Engineers
The objective of this program is to produce biomedical engineers who are sufficiently knowledgeable about basic science and highly skilled in applicable techniques so as to be able to contribute to the development of nanotechnology and multidisciplinary research related to nanotechnology. The program is targeted for students of the TMDU Graduate School of Medicine and Dentistry, the TMDU Biomedical Science PhD Program and students sent to our institute from industry. Our ultimate goal is to supply superior personnel to the academic and industrial arenas who will be able to initiate technological progress. By inviting lecturers from abroad and sending our students to overseas institutions and companies, we also encourage students in this program to expand their experience and deepen their understanding of the global science community.
Life Sciences Intellectual Property Evaluation Infrastructure Development Program
The chief aim of this program is to nurture qualified appraisers of intellectual property who can effectively promote technology licensing and stimulate new industries. We also have the goal of producing patent attorneys who are knowledgeable in life sciences. We believe this program will be of great benefit to the effort to accumulate intellectual property in Japan. The Intellectual Property Division at TMDU employs graduate students who have expert knowledge in life sciences as intellectual property assistants and gives them the opportunity to take part in intensive educational courses offered by experienced patent attorneys and IP managers, and to experience on the job training in researching medicine and biotechnology patents that have been filed domestically and abroad.
