| Short-term lectures and laboratory practica |
| The School of Biomedical Science was established in 2003 and is the only postgraduate school engaged in education and research regarding multi-disciplinary research in medicinal bioscience. Students in the Biomedical Science PhD Program attend lectures and have laboratory practica during their first 3 months in the program. In the remainder of the program they conduct practical research in a wide variety of areas of medicine and biosciences. |
| In order to promote the exchange of talent in the life sciences area, to expand intellectual and human networks, and to conduct graduate-level education that meets the relevant social needs and the leading trends in scientific research and progress, the Graduate School promotes cooperation with various national and private research institutes staffed with leading researchers in life sciences fields. |
Our students are a diverse group who major in molecular and
cellular biology, pharmacology, chemical biology and bioinformatics. |
| Biomedical Science is a new academic field which comprises several diverse fields. The specific fields of research are based on molecular and cellular biology, structural biology and immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, chemical biology and bioinformatics. We accept students who studied medicine, biology, bioscience, chemistry, pharmacology, information science and system engineering as undergraduates. |
| Students can select their laboratory of choice after entrance the university. |
| In order to accommodate students who do not have sufficient knowledge of disease life sciences, and who thus cannot select a field of research or a laboratory at the time of the entrance examination or entrance to the university, the Graduate School allows students to select a laboratory at the end of the lecture and laboratory practica period in July. |
| The Graduate School has its own system of financial support. Both PhD students and students at the master's course who plan to enter the PhD course are able to receive financial support greater than one-half of their annual school expenses. |
